Entrance Requirements

The Junior Program is geared toward middle school and high school students and others, who are studying at an intermediate level of training. Admission to the Program is by audition. The Program is ideal for students who have a special interest in contemporary dance performance, including those who may wish to become professional contemporary dancers.​

Applicants should have a desire to commit to an intensive contemporary dance performance program and will include students who may wish to apply to The Senior Professional Program and pursue a professional contemporary dance career.

​

Interested students should submit an application form and attend an Audition Class is held at the beginning of June annually for the next years enrollment. The class will include sections of both ballet and contemporary dance. The audition will be held at the School of Contemporary Dancers, 104-211 Bannatyne Avenue.

2. Attend The Junior Professional Program Audition

3. Receive response regarding your application

4. If accepted, will receive official acceptance Letter from The School of Contemporary Dancers

5. Confirm your acceptance to The Junior Professional Program

6. Submit your $200 deposit to reserve your placement in The Junior Professional Program

Tuition Fees

After being accepted to The Junior Professional Program. A $200 non-refundable deposit is due July 1 annually for the next years enrollment.

​

The Junior Program curriculum includes: Tuition is based on Level (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5+)

​

  • Contemporary dance

  • Ballet

  • Jazz

  • NAfro Technique

  • Choreographic Workshop

  • Repertory

  • Performance

​

The following optional classes are available by evaluation:

​

  • Ballet Exam

  • Pointe

  • Hip Hop 

  • SCD Crew Performance Troupe 

  • Solo Opportunities 

​

*Students also have the opportunity to take classes in our General Program at a discounted rate

Students perform in The Bill Evans Contemporary Dance Festival where they have the opportunity to receive adjudication from renowned Teacher, Choreographer and Dance Artist, Darryl Tracy.  Many dancers have been awarded scholarships towards their training at the School of Contemporary Dancers and have consistently received outstanding feedback for their excellent quality of training and artistry in Contemporary Dance. In addition, many Junior graduates have entered the Senior Professional Program and have graduated into professional dance careers.

Cheque:

Payable to: The School of Contemporary Dancers

Please include the following information: JPP "STUDENT NAME"

​

Please submit pre-authorized cheques to the SCD office for payment.
